FOSTER CARE UPDATE – WEEK 1
Donalds first week in foster care is going well. He has settled in and plays with our other dog. He has gone to a cafe and the beach and has been left home alone.
Donald knows his bed and allows you to take away his food. He walks well on a lead and hasn’t had many accidents. He does push through the doorway in front of you and does like to climb on the bed with the humans. He travels well in a car but needs to be lifted in. He will go up stairs but not down them yet. Has been known to steal food off the bench, break into the bin and is very keen on the neighbors chickens.
FOSTER CARE UPDATE – WEEK 2
Donald has become subjected to house rules, left home alone and been for walks. He walks well on the lead, likes to play with his toys and knows his bed. He does need assistance still in getting in and out of the car. Has been known to go to the toilet inside over night and is learning to play but still gets very excited. Donald still enjoys chasing the chickens and can get possessive with treats.
FOSTER CARE UPDATE – WEEK 3
Donald walks calmly however will cross side to side if stressed by stimulus (car noises, crowds, loud noises). He has been learning to heel, understands commands such as “outside” and “down”. He travels well once in the car, still has trouble getting in and out of the car, and will sit quietly after awhile. You can withdraw food from Donald however if he is allowed he will eat the other dogs food as well. He is calm and friendly towards adults, children and other dogs. I do believe he may chase cats or chickens however has a beautiful nature around other dogs. He would be suitable to a home with any aged people.
